According to Wang Cheng, deputy director of communication and construction department of SGCC, the proportion of electric power transmitted from other provinces to the city of Tianjin grows from 20% to 35%, which amounts to a cut of 9 million tons of annual coal consumption. What is more, the emissions of CO2, SO2 and atmospheric dust can be greatly reduced.

The two UHV channels - Ximeng-to-Shandong and Mengxi-to-Southern Tianjin connected via the substation are among twelve transmission channels of Action Plan for the Control of Air Pollution. To date, of 12 channels, 4 channels have been put into operation and the rest would have been in service by the end of 2017.
